Do not adopt the proposed continue-on-error behavior after model establishment. An authorized state-writing caller must stop before construction/enactment when proposal validation, predecessor validation or commit fails. Record the typed failure through the independent attempt/checkpoint failure path. Do not return a normal completed selection with an omitted model reference.
This is the chosen lifecycle contract for the established model, even before ranking consumes it: candidate admissions and their history must not be silently lost whenever persistence fails. Q-C made model commit independent of later construction success. Treating it as optional telemetry would change that contract and require another behavior change when updates arrive.
Distinguish the following states explicitly:
| State | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Model not yet established, and no evidence/configuration that it has been activated | Inert rollout state. Existing computation may continue with explicit model-not-established status, no model rows or reference, and no WM completion claim. |
| Authorized read-only preview/replay | No production commit; clearly identify its result as a proposal/read-only result. It cannot claim durable selection or proceed as a state-writing caller. |
| Established model; invalid proposal, stale predecessor, damaged/pending store or failed commit | Stop this attempt before construction/enactment. Retain typed failure; do not initialize replacement rows. |
| Failure after the commit point (including PENDING cleanup failure) | Stop and record the reported commit-point flag and any candidate reference as unresolved metadata. Do not assert that no commit happened. Resolve through the store protocol before resuming; never create a replacement operation merely to avoid the failure. |
Missing genesis after activation is not automatically “not yet established.” The rollout configuration/authority and store evidence must distinguish those cases. Missing HEAD, initialization markers, snapshots or known references cannot be ignored to regain inert mode. Coordinated rollback of all authority remains the documented trust limitation.
Pattern applications: belief-keeps-its-lineage (WM-02 Q4), complete-acquisition-universe, and certificate-and-world-must-meet. The response preserves what the machine may claim about the occurrence; it does not declare persistence evidence equivalent to task success.
Approve no automatic stale-predecessor retry/recomputation in the click. A fresh attempt can read the new head and recompute under a new occurrence identity; it must retain its new candidate/information context. Do not reuse the old proposal with a new expected head.
A same-operation, same-intent lookup to determine whether an ambiguous commit already succeeded is distinct from recomputing or recommitting. Preserve the original expected head and intent for that recovery. PENDING still requires the separately reviewed recovery procedure; this decision does not add automatic repair. The caller must retain the original operation identity and proposal binding before or with the commit attempt so a lost response can be resolved.
Pattern applications: same-policy-through-comparison, declare-the-conditioning, and belief-keeps-its-lineage.
Approve run/attempt/work-target identity for the serving runner and a stable tick-run identity for the scheduled caller. Use an unambiguous structured identity or a documented injective encoding; raw delimiter concatenation is insufficient if component values can contain those delimiters. Include store/genesis scope in the effective operation identity or its validation. Distinct attempts must not collide, and retry of one attempt must not generate a new identity.
The operation must retain caller kind, occurrence, information cutoff and full intent. A path without a click ID must not invent one. Define which fields are excluded from the intent hash as volatile execution metadata; changing semantic inputs must remain a changed intent.
Important call-site correction: trace? is not scheduled-caller authority. The inspected judge API exposes it as a generic trace option. A preview/test/caller enabling tracing must not thereby commit to the production model. Pass an explicit authorized coordinator/store context from the audited runner or scheduled entrypoint. Both use one commit protocol. Prefer commit orchestration outside pure judge; if the scheduled branch stays inside a wrapper around judge, its capability boundary must be explicit and tested.
Require a negative test: a generic traced judge call without state-writing authority produces no production store writes, even when a store path exists globally.
Pattern applications: declare-the-conditioning, same-policy-through-comparison, and outcome-meaning-across-models.
Approve /home/joe/code/futon2/data/wm-work-target/ as the default production store, supplied as an absolute configured path with an absolute pinned declaration path. Tests inject isolated stores and declarations. Path configuration must not itself create genesis or grant commit authority. Inert reading must not create a new model as a side effect.
Deliver P1b-2 inert until separately authorized rollout genesis/activation. Production genesis remains unapproved in this commission. Activation must make its established-model expectation durable enough that accidental deletion does not look like initial nonparticipation. Bring the actual activation/recovery procedure for review before rollout; code and isolated tests can proceed now.
P1b-2a and P1b-2b may proceed with these requirements and claude-2's review gates. F1/F2 were already independently accepted by codex-28 at source/test scope in p4ng 2922020; a duplicate review is optional. The store R1 fix still needs the proposed independent review by codex-3. Keep the three surviving mutation cases visible as coverage limits; do not report all mutants killed or rely on filesystem-specific success as evidence that non-atomic fallback is absent.
The full payload validator must run on all admitted store payloads, not just targets later read by row 7. The caller audit must identify every route to committing, not only the two intended names. Failure-path tests must show zero downstream construction/enactment after an established-model failure, inert behavior before authorized activation, trace-only calls without write authority, stable lost-response identities and separate treatment of post-commit failure.
Return reviewed results and any concrete contract conflict by bell. No new scoring law, deployment, click or recovery command is authorized here.
